Careful Touch Massage
FAQs
What should I expect from my first session?
For a first timer, a slow and gentle introduction to massage is paramount. The goal will be to become accustomed to slow touch and focus your awareness on your body and its reactions (positive or negative) to the touch, then practice breathing techniques (that the massage therapist will remind you of throughout the session) to reduce those reactions and allow your body to sink into a state of relaxation and self-healing.
Will massage fix all of my problems?
Life is a journey, and every journey has its ups and downs. Along the way we learn things about ourselves and the world around us. Massage is just a type of journey we go on, to achieve and maintain peace within ourselves. There is no cure for life, we are simply here to experience it and focusing on that experience can help make the ebbs more tolerable and the flows more exciting until we reach a state of contentment.
What is expected of me?
Be respectful and communicate with us! Leave Ego at the door. When Ego tries to tell you to keep quiet because you “might hurt [our] feelings”, or “just push through the pain” forcefully remind Ego that you’re in charge and use your voice! There is NO judgement here, only healing and we can’t help you if we don’t know what you want (or don’t want). Lastly we are people too who just want to help others, respect our body and time just as we will respect yours.
Will I feel better after my massage?
In most cases, clients feel relaxed, flexible, and at ease immediately after a massage. Due to the manipulation of tissue that is inherent in the practice, the days after could result in soreness depending on the depth of pressure applied to the bod. Becoming more aware of your body will help in identifying the changes that occur after your session and how that is affecting you, be it positively or negatively. Be sure to communicate with your Doctor about anything that concerns you.
Do I have to be completely naked?
Not at all! You can be fully dressed if you’d like. The key factor to keep in mind is the restrictive nature of clothing, of you AND the Therapist. So, any clothing left on, will limit the techniques our Therapists can utilize to provide the best outcome in your healing journey.
Do you accept Insurance?
Unfortunately, we are not equipped to bill insurance companies for our services at this time. However, we do provide a 50% discount for those who are on Medicaid insurance that can provide their acceptance letter for the current year, from the Health and Welfare Department, at their first session.
